43rd Istanbul Music Festival

The 43rd Istanbul Music Festival, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) with the sponsorship of Borusan Holding, will once again bring world-class Classical music performances to the city. This year's festival will be running from May 31 to June 29 under the theme of 'Cultural Landscapes'. Within the festival program, there will be two world premieres, three national premieres, symphony orchestras, chamber orchestras, vocal performances, and recitals in a total of 27 concerts. Around 600 local and foreign musicians, including Yuri Bashmet, Boris Berezovsky, Emmanuelle Haim, Angela Hewitt, and Yuja Wang, will be hosted in the city. As well as Heybeliada's Hagia Triada Monastery, taking part in the festival program for the first time, among the other festival venues will be the Hagia Irene Museum, St. Antoine Church, the Süreyya Opera House, the Austrian Cultural Office, the İş Sanat Concert Hall and the Lütfi Kırdar Conference and Exhibition Center. There will also be a series of free concerts, the Weekend Classics Concerts, at various venues around the city.

The festival theme of Cultural Landscapes will explore 19th-century European music's preoccupation with the folkloric traditions of its people, struggling with issues of identity, nationalism, and belonging. In this process, this music also expresses the rhythms, harmonies, and tones of various forms of regional music. The organizers hope this theme will encourage cultural understanding and the harmonious functioning of a multicultural society. See the program below:
